The Tartans are coming ..the Tartans are coming!!!!!!!
It has been a few days since my last posts, and here is why…. we have been working on adding the lists of tartans to the kilt section of our website….. and with over 800 tartans currently available at our disposal…. it is a daunting task looking at the list of tartans. The different weights of material, We think we have a plan worked out that will allow the viewers (that’s you folks) a way to easily select your tartan based on weight and yards….give us a few more days and they should be available on the site…. if you would like to enquire on a specific tartan and size requirements you can email us here.
Be sure to include the Tartan name, your natural waist size (this is not your pant size) your hips and the length…. Now you ask how do I get these measurements……….Here’s how.. refer to image below.
A) Waist (taken over a thin shirt only) - find the bottom of the rib cage and the top of the hip bone. Place the tape measure between those two points and measure around the roundest part of the waist. This measurement should be taken taut. If the gentleman is of generous stature, measure quite taut.
(B) Hip to knee - measure from top of hip bone down to the top of the knee cap. Note: If you prefer to wear your kilt to the middle of your knee cap, please specify and measure accordingly.
(C) Round seat - measure around the roundest part of the seat, this measurement should be taken with approx 1″ of slackness on the tape measure.
(D) Total length incl. rise - Measure from the bottom of your rib cage to the top of your knee. Or, if you intend to wear your kilt to mid knee, please specify and measure accordingly. A kilt is worn higher than trousers, approximately 2-2.5”above the hipbone. This measurement will include the “rise” of the kilt. A 2” rise above the hip is typical for most men.
