Tartan Day-Flag Raising
We had a typical April day in Saint John yesterday April 5, from a light rain/snow combination to hail, but this did not deter our mission, as the members of the Saint Andrews Society of Saint John(my self included) held a flag raising with his Worship, Norm McFarlane(Mayor).
After a short speech form one of the Society members, a prayer, and behold the Saltire was waving in the wind.
With a quick jaunt to to Pete’s Pub, a few pints, a few had a meal…. and as we sit enjoying a pint we hear the pleasant sound of a lone piper followed by highland dancers, and into market Square they go… for the announcement of 2007 Canadian Scottish Dancing Championships held at harbour Station July 4-8 2007as of yesterdays date approx.250 dancers had registered for the event.
A final note, a great time was had by all, and one of the Societies biggest turnouts for Tartan Day
Update April 11 2007, Pictures of the flag raising and some of the Society members.( I am the one with the Camo kilt.)
